How to cancel YouTube Premium

The steps depend on WHERE you subscribed — directly, through your phone, internet or TV provider, or in an app store. Below are all the ways this service is sold and how to end each one.

Canceling and pausing

Cancel, pause or resume at youtube.com/paid_memberships. After canceling, benefits continue until the end of the billing period. If Apple or Google Play bills you, cancel there.

Monthly

Renews automatically; can be paused for 1–6 months or canceled any time.

12-month plan

Prepaid and non-recurring; not refundable and can’t be paused.

Billed by Apple or Google Play

Cancel in your Apple or Google Play account; pausing isn’t available through Apple.

On the web

  1. Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships.
  2. Click Manage membership, then Deactivate.
  3. Click Continue to cancel.
  4. Select a reason, click next, then Yes, cancel.

Your benefits continue until the end of the billing period, and you won’t be charged again unless you resubscribe.

If Apple or Google Play bills you

If you joined from the YouTube iOS app, cancel in your Apple account. If your membership comes through a Google Play subscription, cancel in your Google Play account settings.

Pause instead

At youtube.com/paid_memberships you can pause for 1 to 6 months. The pause starts after your current billing cycle; during it, you and your family members lose Premium benefits, and downloads are kept but can’t be played until you resume. Annual plans and memberships billed through Apple can’t be paused.

The 12-month plan

It doesn’t renew, so there’s nothing to cancel — it simply ends. It isn’t refundable; to end access early, YouTube says to contact YouTube Support.
