How to cancel Spotify Premium
The steps depend on WHERE you subscribed — directly, through your phone, internet or TV provider, or in an app store. Below are all the ways this service is sold and how to end each one.
Canceling
Cancel any time on your account page. Premium stays until your next billing date, then the account switches to the free tier. If you cancel during a free trial, the switch is immediate.
Billed by Spotify
Cancel on your account page; Family and Duo members can only leave the plan — the plan manager cancels it.
Billed by a partner
If your phone or internet provider bills you, cancel with them (their contact link is on your account page).
Family plan members lose Premium too
Canceling a Family plan moves managed accounts to the free tier and ends Premium for all members at the next payment date.
On your account page
Go to your account page and cancel your Premium plan there — Spotify says you can do it any time. Premium stays until your next billing date; after that, your account switches to the free tier with your playlists.
During a free trial
If you cancel during a free trial, Spotify switches you to the free tier immediately, and a free trial can’t be reactivated.
Family and Duo
Only the plan manager can cancel a Family or Duo plan — and everyone on it loses Premium from the next payment date. If you’re a plan member, the same steps remove you from the plan but don’t cancel it. Managed accounts for kids move to the free, ad-supported plan.
Billed by a partner
If you don’t see a cancel option, your plan is probably billed by a partner such as your phone or internet provider. Their contact link is on your account page.
