How to cancel Proton VPN
The steps depend on WHERE you subscribed — directly, through your phone, internet or TV provider, or in an app store. Below are all the ways this service is sold and how to end each one.
Renewal and what the provider says about it
Proton’s paid plans renew automatically. On the 2-year plan the intro price covers the first 24 months, then the plan renews every 12 months. The free plan needs no credit card, so it can’t renew into a charge.

The intro price isn’t the price of the service
Check the renewal amount before buying a long plan.
If you paid on the Proton VPN website
- Go to account.protonvpn.com and sign in.
- In the sidebar, select Subscription. Scroll to Cancel subscription and click Continue.
- Select Cancel subscription, read the terms, and select Cancel subscription again.
- Select a reason and click Submit — Proton says the cancellation isn’t final until you do this.
You keep VPN Plus features until the expiration date; then the account drops to Proton Free. Changed your mind? Select Reactivate now in the same place.
If you subscribed on the App Store
Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Proton VPN → Cancel Subscription, then confirm.
If you subscribed on Google Play
Play Store → your avatar → Subscriptions → Proton VPN, and follow the instructions to cancel.
Refunds
If you subscribed in the last 30 days, you may be able to request a refund under Proton’s 30-day money-back guarantee. App Store refunds are requested from Apple.
