How to cancel Dropbox Plus
The steps depend on WHERE you subscribed — directly, through your phone, internet or TV provider, or in an app store. Below are all the ways this service is sold and how to end each one.
Billing
Dropbox Plus can be billed monthly or yearly; yearly saves 15% or more according to Dropbox.
Monthly
Flexible.
Yearly
Saves 15% or more, paid up front.
Before downgrading
Basic has 2 GB — move files that won’t fit.
On dropbox.com
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Click your avatar in the bottom-left corner.
- Click Manage account.
- Click Cancel plan at the bottom of the page.
- Select a reason and click Continue canceling or Confirm change, then follow the prompts.
You’ll get an email titled “Dropbox Plan will not renew”. On the Billing tab of your account settings you should see “Plan downgrade scheduled”.
No Cancel plan button? You may have bought Dropbox on your phone — cancel in that app store.
What happens next
Your account becomes free Dropbox Basic at the end of the current monthly or yearly billing cycle, and you won’t be charged again. Basic has 2 GB. If you’re over it, you may not be able to sync, upload, share, move or preview files — and if the account stays over the limit, Dropbox may delete files you own to get under it.
Things that don’t cancel
- Deleting the Dropbox app doesn’t cancel your plan or delete your account.
- Letting your card expire doesn’t cancel the plan — your bank may move payments to a new card.
- Downgrading to Basic isn’t the same as deleting your account.
Can’t cancel online?
Dropbox accepts cancellation by mail. Include your account email (or the best email to reach you) and the payment method you use.
