How to cancel Coursera
The steps depend on WHERE you subscribed — directly, through your phone, internet or TV provider, or in an app store. Below are all the ways this service is sold and how to end each one.
Canceling and refunds
Coursera says the monthly plan can be canceled any time. The annual plan is paid up front and comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you subscribed through Apple or Google Play, cancel in that store.
Monthly
7-day free trial, then monthly billing; cancel anytime.
Annual
Paid up front; 14-day money-back guarantee.
Trial vs refund
Monthly gives you a trial; annual gives you a refund window.
On the web
- Log in to Coursera.org.
- Go to your Purchases.
- On the Subscriptions tab, find Coursera Plus.
- Click Cancel subscription.
If you started on the web, you can also cancel in the app: settings gear → My Subscriptions → Manage Subscription → Cancel subscription.
If you started in the mobile app
Subscriptions started in the Coursera app are managed by Apple or Google Play, so the web cancel option won’t appear — cancel in that store.
What happens after you cancel
- You keep access until the current payment period ends; then courses switch to preview mode.
- Your progress and grades are saved.
- Certificates you earned stay in your Certificates tab.
- Canceling stops future payments but doesn’t refund past ones.
Coursera Plus doesn’t cancel itself when you finish courses — only some Specialization and Professional Certificate subscriptions do.
Refunds
The annual plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee. On the monthly plan, cancel before the free trial ends to avoid being charged.
